2 Bedroom Cottage in Malahat

Nestled in a fir and arbutus forest, this recently renovated and professionally decorated separate, private cottage is behind our home on a 2.5-acre property on the Malahat. The huge picture windows and vaulted ceilings make you feel like you are living in a treehouse. The fully equipped kitchen has a full size range, microwave, fridge/freezer, and 18” dishwasher. The dining table seats 4. The living area has a new sofa with a comfy pullout queen-size memory foam mattress. There is a 36” TV with ROKU in the living room, so you can watch your own Netflix, Prime, etc, account and a DVD player with many movies in the cupboard. The electric fireplace feels cozy in winter. There is an in window air conditioner in summer months. On the other side of the entry you will find the bedroom with king size pillow top medium firm mattress, ceiling fan, bedside reading lamps and a lap top size desk that can be used for those working from home or for hair and makeup as there is a large mirror above it. In the large closet, you will find hanging space for your clothing, a stacked washer and dryer , as well as an iron and ironing board. The bathroom is accessed from the bedroom and has a shower only, with excellent water pressure, a comfort height toilet, and vanity with storage and a hair dryer with mirrored medicine cabinet above to store your toiletries. A heated tile floor in the bathroom. Immerse yourself in nature here. Numerous varieties of birds, deer, and on occasion, bears and cougars have been seen from the windows. There is an outdoor dining table for 2 and comfortable patio furniture that can be used in numerous spots on the large wrap around covered deck with retractable awning in one area. A propane BBQ is provided for your use.
We have severe ALLERGIES in our household and extended family who also use the cottage, so we cannot accommodate any animals. We also use unscented laundry detergent and no fabric softener. We understand fragrance sensitivities.
This is a NO SMOKING property. 🚭
We don’t recommend this property for toddlers or young kids for safety reasons outdoors. We plan to upgrade in the future. There are 3 natural, uneven stone steps from the path onto the deck with handrail.
There are exterior metal roll down window shutters that make great black out for sleeping as well as fabric blinds inside. Due to the proximity of the TransCanada highway, some people may notice some traffic noise during the day. It’s very quiet at night.
Located just minutes off the TransCanada Hwy, the only road leading "up island" as the locals say, gives you quick access to this scenic drive leading to many tourist attractions north of Victoria as well as getting you to the inner harbour downtown Victoria in 30 mins. Summary: Perfect! It's not a word I use often, but my stay at Caroline and Allen's cottage in Malahat, was in fact, just perfect. From the perfectly curated interior design of the cottage, to it's location, nestled among towering evergreens and arbutus, all was perfect. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at this little gem of a hideaway and will definitely recommend this location to others. Besides being immaculate, the furnishings were first rate, and such care was taken to consider our every need. From the treats that were abundant and available, to the vast array of cookware and utensils that were supplied, every detail of our stay had been anticipated and provided for. Thank you again, Caroline and Allen. Our stay was PERFECT.

Summary: I can't even begin to tell you how lovely this place was. It was so unbelievably clean and comfortable. The sofa bed was a dream. It was in a beautiful location close to so much and yet in the middle of the forest with great walking ( if you like hills). Now on to the hosts, Caroline and Allan saved me. My vehicle broke down and they rescued me,and made sure we got everything we needed. I will most certainly go back here any chance I get!! I can't say enough good things about the cabin and the hosts. THANK YOU ❤️

Summary: Wish I could give this hostess/location more than five stars! The rental was spotless, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The hostess, Caroline, was so friendly and welcoming. It's just a short drive from Victoria with easy access to everything. The view from the porch made us feel like we were staying in a tree house. We spotted deer on our first day and amazing sunsets each evening. Wish we could have stayed longer than four nights.

Summary: This was the most well-equipped VRBO we’ve ever stayed at—Caroline truly thought of everything little thing to make our stay just wonderful. I wish my kitchen at home was that complete!😊 It is a lovely, peaceful location, surrounded by woods, with a deck I could have sat on for hours, reading and drinking coffee (or wine!) The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower had strong water pressure, there was a good Wi-Fi signal and the Roku provided multiple streaming options—what more could you ask for!? Caroline communicated promptly and provided many helpful recommendations for dining/groceries/etc. Highly recommended!

Summary: Quiet and cozy cabin sourrounded by a pine forest. The location was close enough to Victoria to make trips into the city, but far enough away to avoid the frenzy of town (its also located just off of the main north-south highway providing quick and easy access other parts of the island). The interior is bright and welcoming, with a simple but nicely arranged floor plan that has an updated decor. The kitchen had all the essentials you would hope to find, and the BBQ made eating on the outdoor patio quite a treat. The host was charming and friendly, willing to provide help as needed. While some might comment on the noise from the highway, it really wasn't that loud, and within a few minutes faded into the background - it cannot be very loud, or the deer we saw wandering through the yard would never be there! A great location for visitors touring Vancouver Island, or for a quiet and relaxing get-away.
